Over 45 Hotels by Iberostar Reopen

News As countries slowly reopen their borders and lift off quarantine measures, the hospitality business also returns to its normal. This time, Iberostar announced the reopening of 45 hotels in nine countries. The company tries to resume its work as soon as possible to get at least some revenues from the ongoing summer season.

The company’s hotel in Majorca was the first property that opened its doors yet in June. This happened soon after Spain had eased its travel restrictions. The Majorca hotel, Iberostar Christina, was also the first property to test the new hygiene standards and safety protocols. After that, the hotelier continued reopening its hotels in Europe and other destinations around the world. These are the hotels by Iberostar in Tunisia, Montenegro, and Spain (Andalusia). In the Americas, Iberostar reopened its hotels in Cancun, Riviera Nayarit, Riviera Maya (Mexico), and Jamaica.

By the end of the summer, the hotelier is going to open as many as 45 hotels in the destinations where Iberostar has already resumed its work. The locations of these hotels range from Europe to North Africa – Greece, Morocco, the Balearics, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. If the demand picks up and air carriers resume their work in full force, Iberostar hopes to reopen even more hotels. The hotelier has developed a new hygiene policy for each country taking into consideration the rules and guidelines that are adopted in it. Naturally, many hotels remain closed, and Iberostar plans to upgrade them meanwhile, doing refurbishment or incorporating a new waste management program.

Many hotel companies try to become more sustainable these days, and Iberostar is no exception. The company launched its new coral restoration program in the Caribbean part of Mexico. The hotel in Riviera Maya is the second property worldwide that has a coral nursery by Iberostar.

To ensure the safety of both hotel guests and employees, the Majorcan hotelier developed roughly 300 different safety measures and divided them into the four main categories, namely, hygiene standards, safe environment, social spaces, and innovative experience. These new safety standards were developed together with a medical advisory board that included many famous and respected experts in virology, public health, and epidemiology.
