IHG Brings Its InterContinental Brand to Italy

News The portfolio of InterContinental Hotels Group has many brands but InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is the company’s signature luxury brand. No wonder why IHG is particularly attentive to all details when it comes to opening a hotel operating under this brand. Surprisingly, such a popular tourist country as Italy doesn’t have any InterContinental hotels but IHG is going to change this by opening a new luxury hotel in Rome.

This is going to be an enchanting hotel in the heart of Rome opened in accordance with a franchise agreement between IHG and Oaktree Capital Management. The latter company will manage the new hotel. It wasn’t an easy task to find a suitable building for the first InterContinental hotel in Italy, but the companies did a good job selecting a property on Via Veneto. The new hotel in Rome is situated very close to Villa Borghese. This is a converted hotel – the property is already closed for renovation purposes. All 160 rooms and public areas like a spa center, a restaurant, and a bar will be thoroughly remade to fit the high standards of the luxury brand.

The new InterContinental hotel in Rome will be opened in the building designed by architect Carlo Busiri Vici at the beginning of the 20th century. The palazzo-style neo-renaissance building was a residence of ambassadors until 1993 when it was transformed into a hotel. The building truly has a prime location. The hotel is perfectly suitable for guests interested in shopping, art, and history. Such iconic attractions of Rome as the Trevi Fountain, the Galleria Borghese, and the Spanish Steps are located less than one kilometer from the hotel.

At the moment, IHG operates 44 luxury hotels in Europe, and the company is not going to stop. The new Six Senses hotel in Rome will open in the fourth quarter of 2021. In total, IHG has 17 luxury hotels in Europe in the pipeline, and all of them are set to open in the next three to five years. IHG currently has 29 hotels in Italy operating under such brands as Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, and Hotel Indigo.

Known as the largest luxury hotel brand in the world, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is a collection of exceptional hotels. Each hotel by this brand has a prime location and its own authentic style. The portfolio includes hotels in historic buildings, properties close to the most famous landmarks, and resorts in the most idyllic corners of the world.
