OYO decided to offer free hotel rooms for healthcare practitioners who are fighting with COVID-19 in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand. The free rooms will be available as long as there is a state of emergency in the country. OYO decided to offers its hotels in Pattaya and Bangkok because there are a large number of the COVID-19 cases at hospitals of these cities.
The offer is valid starting from April 30, 2020. The OYO 419 Maleewan Jomtien Pattaya and Na Banglampoo Hotel Bangkok are open for healthcare specialists. Healthcare practitioners from these Thai cities can always reserve free rooms by contacting the hotelier. They need to make a call to a special phone number that works from 9 am to 7 pm. In order to get a free room, guests need to present proof of employment (staff ID).
The decision to offer free rooms appeared after OYO had seen multiple requests of healthcare practitioners for homes, rooms, and any other shelter located close to the hospitals where COVID-19 patients are treated. OYO thought it was a good idea to offer clean and affordable living spaces for people who were risking their lives to save people suffering from the dangerous virus. Currently, many healthcare specialists word tirelessly round-the-clock, trying to help as many sick people as they can. The hotelier contacted its partners and asked them to support the idea. As everyone approved OYO’s decision, it became possible to offer free rooms without delay.
The coronavirus pandemic has put doctors, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners on the frontier. Many of them spend most of the day at hospitals, so they physically have no power to return to their remote homes afterward. By having a clean and tidy hotel room close to the hospitals, healthcare practitioners can rest more.
At the moment, OYO hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya offer free rooms but more hotels might be added in future because partner hotels in other cities in Thailand send their requests and say that they want to offer free rooms as well. The hotelier underlines that it continues accepting hotel bookings from all guests. OYO hotels remain open during the entire period of emergency in Thailand. Moreover, OYO hotels offer special cheap room rates for foreign guests who cannot return to their home countries due to travel restrictions. Guests wishing to practice self-quarantine are also eligible for these special rates.
