Accor Launches the Mondrian Hotel Brand in Europe

News Accor has recently decided to finally bring the company’s Mondrian brand to Europe. Two hotels in France will be the first properties operating under this brand. By the way, these hotels also mark a symbolic milestone for the famous hotelier – 3,000 properties in Europe.

A hotel in Cannes will be the first Mondrian hotel in Europe. The Cannes Grand Hotel is a premium accommodation on the Croisette. The 11-story building with 75 guestrooms is set to reopen in 2021. The hotel will also feature a 4,000 square meter private garden, a restaurant and a bar, a private beach, and several functional meeting rooms. The private beach, which will be located in front of the hotel, will open already this year.

The second Mondrian hotel in Europe will open in Bordeaux. The new Bordeaux hotel has a mesmerizing location in a 19th-century building. The 3-story mansion will have 97 rooms that will differ in size, ranging from 20 sq. m to 50 sq. m. The hotelier promises some interesting features for this hotel in Bordeaux. These will be a large (460 sq. m) lounge area with a bar, a gorgeous open-air terrace covering an area of 225 sq. m, a spa, and meeting and functional space. The hotel is set to open closer to the end of 2021. The opening of this unique and elegant hotel will be held during a grandiose ceremony with all stakeholders of the property.

Accor describes Mondrian as a modern hotel with a revolutionary design that is always in the epicenter of local cultural life and innovation. The hotelier plans to collaborate with the most famous names in the industry in order to offer stylish hotels with exclusive food and dining options. Europe is a key market for Accor. Almost 50% of the hotelier’s portfolio is located here.

In recent years, Accor has transformed significantly and focused on upscale hotels. The acquisition of such hotel brands as the Swissotel, Fairmont, and Raffles in 2016 only strengthened the company’s positions in this segment. Nowadays, Accor owns 20 prestigious hotel brands, and 11 of them are present in Europe. Such brands as Sofitel, Fairmont, and Rixos are recognized among the top 10 luxury hotel brands in Europe. Thanks to them, Accor has managed to become the leading hotelier in the luxury segment in Europe for the first time. Accor’s portfolio is growing at a high pace. In 2016, the company had 100 hotels with a total of 18,000 guestrooms. In 2019, this figure doubled and reached 200 hotels with a total of 38,000 rooms. By 2023, Accor plans to increase the number of hotels in its portfolio to 300.
