These days, the vast majority of travelers can only book a hotel in Oxford and explore the town, getting acquainted with its lifestyle or wishing they could study at one of the most famous universities in the world. If you belong to the second category and still have a dream of studying at the University of Oxford, this is an opportunity for you.
The University of Oxford has launched the Oxford Experience, a residential program that allows everyone to study at the university for one week. The program will be first launched next year and will last six weeks from July 7 to August 17. However, everyone interested in joining the program should enroll early. The registration opens on September 24, 2018.
Participants of the new program will not have to search for an Oxford hotel as one of the most beautiful and prestigious colleges of Oxford, Christ Church, will provide accommodation. Each accommodation comes with a private bath. During the program, participants will explore the five-century-old college and enjoy their meal in the fabulous Hall three times a day. This Hall has become widely recognized thanks to Harry Potter films. The program includes accommodation, three meals every day, and access to lectures. The price of the program is GBP1,550 per week.
There are more than 60 courses to choose from that cover different themes and sciences. Some of the courses available are The Immortal Alexander the Great; The Art of the English Garden; The Beatles; Life and Music of Franz Schubert; The Crusades; The English Civil War and Revolution; Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales; Thomas Hardy, Novelist and Poet; Enigma and the Intelligence War, and many more.
Some courses have mostly classes inside the college, but many of them include different excursions to cathedrals and museums. Besides that, participants are welcome to attend guided tours to Oxford. During their stay, students will play croquet, relax in a riverside pub, listen to the gospel at the Oxford Cathedral, watch Morris Dancers in Tom Quad, and enjoy many other activities that are not accessible to ordinary tourists in Oxford. When the course ends, all students participate in a special champagne reception in the Cathedral Garden and then attend the major gala evening in the Hall. To memorize this one-of-a-kind experience, every student will receive an Oxford “diploma”.
