Marriott International has announced its ambitious plans regarding the company’s expansion in Europe by 2020. It looks like the hotelier considers Europe one of its major destinations as the increase of hotel rooms is really dramatic.
The key goals include the following. Delta Hotels by Marriott will debut in Europe and by 2020 the number of opened or signed rooms in Europe will reach 4,000. W Hotels will triple their European portfolio. It is already known that the hotelier will open W Hotels branded properties in Budapest and Prague already this year. Another rapidly developing brand by Marriott, Moxy Hotels, will also have a serious boost. At the moment, there are over 1,000 rooms operating in Europe by the Moxy Hotels brand, and additional 9,000 rooms are in the pipeline. According to the plan, by 2020 Marriott will sign more than 22,000 rooms in Europe with 18,000 rooms set to open within the next three years.
When it comes to the upscale part of the Marriott’s portfolio, namely, Aloft Hotels, AC Hotels and Four Points by Sheraton, the hotelier plans to double the number of rooms by these brands in Europe by 2020. The Courtyard Hotels will also have their European portfolio grow by more than 12,000 rooms operating or signed by 2020. This year, the brand will get a serious upgrade with the soon to open hotels in Paris, Edinburgh and Dresden. Finally, in the extended-stay segment Marriott plans to open more than 30 hotels under its Element and Residence Inn brands.
