Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced its plans to serve only cage-free eggs in its properties worldwide by 2020.
The hotelier is well-known for its sustainability decisions and has strict food and beverage policy that is regularly updated and reviewed in accordance with latest trends of the industry. The problems of animal welfare have become increasingly important in recent years, and many hotel customers are now concerned about the food they eat and how it was sourced. Many Starwood hotels already offer eggs from cage-free chicken, but it will take time to change supply system of over 1,200 hotels in the global portfolio of Starwood. Currently, the company is in the process of negotiations with food suppliers and asks them to perform necessary changes to adopt a more humane food system.
