First Ritz-Carlton Resort on Langkawi

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company announced that it will double its presence in Malaysia. According to a new agreement with AJ Resorts SDN BHD, the famous hotelier will open a hotel on the iconic island of Langkawi known for its tropical beauty. The hotel will start operating in 2015.

Langkawi is a paradise like place surrounded by crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea on south west. The island is covered with tropical rainforests, has wonderful sand beaches and even a private cove. Thanks to its beauty, the island has been called Jewel of Kedah and the Legendary Island. For decades, the island has attracted fans of scuba diving because of lush underwater life.

Expressing their delight with the deal, chairman of AJ Resorts Dato Wira Onn Bin mentioned they were really happy to sign the agreement, and hope the opening of the Ritz-Carlton Resort will draw attention of luxury travelers and will fasten the process of turning Langkawi into a world class destination. The island will be a great choice for travelers who seek authentic rest and unspoiled destinations.

The new resort will have 132 guestrooms, 42 villas included. The hotel will be made in national style and will blend with surroundings. Outer design will be reminiscent of a traditional kampong village, while interiors were developed by Burega Farnell and Strickland.

The new hotel is cozily located among tropical gardens. The Ritz-Carlton resort on Langkawi will have three swimming pools, and a special Ritz-Carlton Kids Club. Dining facilities in the hotel will offer various Asian cuisines, including Indian, Malay, Chinese, and Thai food. International food will be represented by beach grill and French dining. The hotel’s Spa will offer signature Ritz-Carlton treatments, including hammam. Event space will be represented by three venues of different size, from small to medium, so the hotel will be a wonderful choice for weddings and banquets.
