Hilton Worldwide has finally opened a hotel in Amsterdam under its exclusive brand Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts. The property is located Herengracht, the area protected by UNESCO. The hotel is located in a canalside building made of two town houses of the 17th and 18th centuries. Many years ago these buildings were houses of richest and most powerful residents of Amsterdam, and now they host the luxury 93-guestroom hotel.
Windows of Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam overlook the main canal of the city, the Herengracht, which was built yet during the Golden Age. Such a location makes it convenient for tourists to explore the city not only by bicycle or foot, but also by boat.
The design of the hotel reflects Dutch approach to luxury. All 93 guestrooms offer views of the city, and are made mostly in ochre and lapis lazuli shades, making thus references to Vermeer, who was the creator of the famous painting “The Girl with the Pearl Earring”. All guestrooms have beamed ceilings, sash windows and large freestanding baths.
The hotel’s restaurant was developed together with internationally famous restaurateurs Jonnie and Therese Boer, who are the owners of 3-Michelin star restaurant De Librije in the Netherlands. Librije’s Zusje Amsterdam restaurant features carefully selected dishes made of finest ingredients. Other dining facilities include The Mauer Room with the private dining option and Peacock Alley lounge where guests can admire light dinner or drinks. The Vault Bar is made on the site of a former bank vault. Finally, meeting and banquet facilities are represented by Hooft Ballroom. Guests of the hotel are welcome to attend Guerlain Spa with several treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool, steam room and sauna. Certainly, starting from arrival and up to the last minute in the hotel, guests will enjoy personalized True Waldorf Service.
