In report provided by Greenlight, there is interesting information regarding UK travelers. Surprisingly, the proportion of online bookings of domestic and overseas hotels is three to one.
In August 2013, Google UK performed 3.1 million hotel searches (this includes domestic and overseas hotels). More than a half of queries (58%, 1.8 million in total) concerned information about hotels located in the UK. The share of hotels in short-haul destinations in the total hotel search estimated 12%. Finally, only 8% of all hotels queries concerned long-haul destinations.
What were the most popular searches of UK travelers in August 2013? Here is the top ten list made by Greenlight. No surprise, the first place is occupied by “hotels in London” keyword (90,500 searches in total). It is followed by “London hotels” (74,000 searches) and “cheap hotels in London”. After the top three, there’s place for the province. Places 7 to 10 are occupied by “Blackpool hotels”, “hotels in York”, “hotels in Edinburgh”, “hotels in Manchester”, “hotels in Brighton”, “Brighton hotels”, and, finally, “cheap London hotels”.
