The Centennial of Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris

This year Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris that belongs to the Dorchester Collection celebrates its hundredth birthday. The famous hotel with rich history was first opened in April 20, 1913. In order to celebrate this amazing anniversary and attract even more public to it, the hotel has announced a series of special activities. For example, it has started a partnership with the Theatre des Champes-Elysees and Baccarat.

The Theatre des Champes-Elysees is a popular place in Paris, so many of its shows are completely sold-out, and there is no chance of buying a ticket. However, this year Theatre des Champs-Elysees also celebrates its 100th anniversary, so the theatre and the hotel agreed to reserve some seats for guests of the hotel. Customers of Hotel Plaza Athenee are welcome to attend “The Right of Spring”, which is an interpretation of works of Igor Stravinsky. The world premiere of the performance took place in 1913, so it also has its centennial this year.

The collaboration with Baccarat is primarily connected with the brand new signature cocktail developed by bar manager Thierry Hernandez. The cocktail will be available during the whole year in Le Bar du Plaza Athenee. Containing such ingredients as Cognac, blackberries, passion fruit, Champagne iin, cranberries and wild strawberries, Harcourt Baccarat is served in Baccarat Harcourt crystal glass.

These are not all the activities prepared for the anniversary. It has been also revealed that the hotel will organize a series of special Bavarian dinners in order to show respect for the founder of the Plaza Athenee – Emil Armbruster who was a German. Moreover, this spring as many as 100 trees will be planted on the grounds of Versailles, and a time capsule is to be buried near the hotel.
