Melia Hotels International has announced the addition of a new property to its European portfolio. The famous hotelier is to open a hotel in Essen, Germany. The property will be operating under the Innside by Melia brand. The hotel will be located in the historical part of Essen approximately 26 kilometres from Dusseldorf.
The Spanish hotelier will bring its urban hotel brand to the city that is considered the heart of the industrial Ruhr region. Essen is distinguished by well-developed transport system and easy access. Moreover, the city is distinguished by numerous places of interest and monuments, some of which are included in the list of Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Traditionally, the city has been the location of headquarters of large companies, now it also becomes popular with private sector firms. All these factors provide really great opportunities for hotel development.
Innside by Melia Essen will be the first hotel of the brand in the city. The property will be located right in the centre of the city. The innovative project of the hotel includes turning old OSRAM office building (built in 1928) into a modern hotel with 107 guestrooms and various facilities. The conversion process is expected to be finished in 2015. Melia has already revealed the min concept of the hotel. The company will keep the historical heritage of the building. The building used to be occupied by the famous bulb manufacturer OSRAM. Melia design team will reflect this fact in a special lightning system of the hotel. It is also reported that the hotel will have a very interesting lighting concept of the main entrance. The hotelier mentions that they will mix the historical aspect with new and surprising concepts that will make a stay in the hotel even more enjoyable.
