If you plan to visit Hannover, Germany, you might enjoy staying in Sheraton Pelikan that recently has renewed all of its guestrooms.
The building of the 147-guestroom hotel was built in 1906. This is a red brick building that once was a Pelikan factory. The factory produced ink and paint. Guestrooms, which are located in the areas that were used for production, are distinguished by huge windows and high ceilings (4.25m). JOI-Design, which is responsible for the renovation, has tried to keep the heritage of the building, but make it more modern and convenient for guests. The designers were inspired by the past of the building, and so they used a palette of natural tones with splashes of ink. Guests will also see hand-sketched lines and curtains with the ink spot pattern.
The hotel’s desk is decorated with 3 pendant lights, which shape reminds of ink bottles. Guestrooms are decorated with tables, which shape also reminds of an ink bottle. Moreover, it is reported that each guestroom has a unique artwork, which is placed in a glass panel with illumination; the artworks are set in the headboard. These artworks feature various handwritings. The handwritings were made by staff from JOI-Design and the hotel.
Large guestrooms with huge windows and lots of sunlight have vaulted ceilings that make them look like lofts. Even carpets in the hotel are decorated with writings that have left or right alignment.
