Casino Giant Starts Non-gaming Business in India

News Caesars Entertainment, which is known as the biggest casino operator in the world, has revealed its plans concerning the launch of a new business in India. Surprisingly, this won’t be a new casino as the company plans to become an hotelier. Caesars Entertainment is particularly interested in providing luxury services, but is also eager to manage various Bollywood-related events, such as musicals, comedies, and concerts.

The Las Vegas-headquartered company already owns 50 hotels and casinos in different parts of the world. This time it wants to open as many as 15 new hotels across India within next 10 years. As the company’s spokesman mentions, the firm has already started negotiations with half a dozen developers. Caesars Entertainment spent 2011 analysing the Indian market and defining best real estate developers. The company wants to open non-gaming properties located in or close to entertainment or convention centres.

Of course, the opening of new non-gaming hotels in India will require the development of the new entertainment concept. Experts believe that now is the best time to step in the hotel market of the country. Even though currently Indian market is not yet structured, there are several big projects on the market that are successful. These are Kingdom of Dreams, Formula 1, and various bowling centres. It’s clear that Indians want to spend money not only on movies and food & beverage. If Caesars manages to offer new forms of entertainment, it may become very successful in India.

The launch of Caesars-branded properties means that Indians can expect music concerts by such stars as Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Celine Dion. The company also organizes various concerts, musicals, stand-up comedy and drama in its 15 properties. This time Caesars is interested in the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi.
