Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) has signed a contract, according to which the company will manage its first hotel in China. This will be the 151-guestroom Millennium resort in Hangzhou. The hotel is located in Zhejiang Province, in picturesque Juixi Ping Feng. The five-star resort is to open in the third quarter of 2013.
The hotel has a truly tranquil location in a tea plantation that is famous for growing high quality sorts of Chinese teas like Dragon Well Tea and Longjing. Staring from the first M&C hotel in China that was opened in 2006, M&C has added 6 more properties to its portfolio in the country. These are Millennium hotels in Chengdu, Qingdao, Xiamen, Wuxi, and the flagship hotel in Beijing. The hotelier also operates Millennium Residences Beijing Fortune Plaza, an apartment complex with 329 services residences.
The hotelier plans to continue its expansion to the hotel market of China by opening the 194-guestroom M Hotel Chengdu and the 510-guestroom Millennium Fuqing hotel in Fujian Province. Current plans of the company imply the opening of as many as 10 hotels in China with the total of 3,500 guestrooms. The hotelier is also to open a hotel in Taiwan. The 267-guestroom Millennium Vee Hotel Taichung is to open already this month.
