Hilton Worldwide will open a hotel in Southampton near Ageas Bowl, one of the most famous cricket venues and home to Hampshire Country Cricket Club. The hotel will be opened in accordance with a franchise agreement between the internationally famous hotelier and RB Hotels Limited.
Hilton hotel at the Ageas Bowl is expected to open its doors in the beginning of 2014. The opening of the hotel will be a part of an on-going development of the stadium. The upscale hotel will have six stores and 171 guestrooms and 4 suites. Many of the rooms overlook the pitch. It is also reported that many of these rooms will be used as accommodation for sportsmen and press during the days of competitions.
Currently cricket in on the rise in England, so Hilton hotel in Southampton is likely to attract not only professionals, but also inspired individuals and fans of this sport. Hilton already has a successful experience of operating sports stadia hotels. In 2009 the company opened DoubleTree by Hilton at Stadium MK. The hotel is also home to Milton Keynes Dons Football Club. In July 2012 Hilton opened Hilton London Wembley hotel that overlooks the iconic stadium.
The cost of the building of the new hotel estimates £27 million. The property will be developed by Denizen Contracts and it will take approximately 18 months to complete the building.
