The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group starts its expansion to the European market by opening a hotel in London. The Indian hotelier has recently bought a historic building near Tower Bridge in the central part of London. St Olave’s, which used to be a grammar school, was sold for £15 million. Now the company will invest additional £12-13 million to restore the building and turn it into a hotel. The luxury boutique-hotel with 70 guestrooms is expected to open in the end of 2014.
The managing director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group Jyotsna Suri says they are delighted with the purchase and do not plan to stop on this property, and the company has serious plans concerning its European expansion.
The Lalit hotel in London will be a part of a huge One Tower Bridge development by Berkley Homes. All restoration works are expected to start in the beginning of 2013 and by the end of 2014 the hotel will greet its first guests.
The hotelier currently operates nine luxury hotels in India. The London accommodation is the first international project of The Lalit Suri. After this the company plans to open hotels in Dubai and Thailand.
