The ambitious project of Dubai authorities, the Palm Jumeirah, gets new projects added. This time it’s Starwood with its famous W brand. The new W hotel in Dubai is scheduled for opening in 2016.
In order to open this hotel the Stamford (Connecticut) headquartered company has signed a contract with Al Sharq Investment firm, which is Dubai native. According to the agreement Starwood will manage a posh 238-guestroom hotel on the famous artificial island. Seems, bad times for W brand in Dubai are finally gone. Initially W hotel on the Palm Jumeirah was announced in 2006, but later the project was put on hold. There were talks about one more W hotel in Dubai Festival City, but that project has also been delayed.
Roeland Vos, the president of Starwood EMEA, commented the deal telling they are really happy about the news concerning the expansion of W brand in Dubai. The company has quite ambitions plans about it in the region and wants to launch new W hotels in such primary cities of the region as Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, and Amman.
Starwood is not a new player on the market of Dubai. The company runs 15 properties in this city. This is the largest concentration of Starwood hotels in the world apart from New York.
