Qatar National Hotels Co. has announced the change of its name. The company will pass through rebranding and will work as Katara Hospitality.
The company decided to change its name after a series of consultations with London-based Lambie-Nairn branding consultancy agency. The hotel company, which is headquartered in Doha, Qatar, said the main aim of changing its name was to improve brand awareness and recognition on international markets. It also plans to establish long partnership with companies either in the Middle East or beyond. The new name of the company, Katara, is an ancient description of Qatar that can be found in old documents or maps.
The choice of the name, according to the company’s chairman Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor al Thani, is the result of a careful research. The company wanted not only to make the name easily remembered, thus improving success chances for the rapidly growing portfolio of the company, but also underline the growing role of Qatar on the hotel market of the world. The company understands its social responsibility and wants to reflect rich culture and heritage of the country.
Among the newest openings of the hotelier are two hotels in Qatar. These will be Lusail Marina Iconic Development hotel in Lusail (a part of a mixed use development scheduled for opening in 2016) and Merwebhotel City Centre hotel in Doha that may open already next year.
