Finally all renovation works are finished, and a hotel is London is re-opened as a part of Marriott Edition family. All works associated with renovation and rebranding lasted 2 years.
New London Edition is a hotel located in Fitzrovia neighborhood not far away from London. Two years ago the former Berners Hotel stopped working due to fiscal issues. At that time the hotel was owned by JJW Hotels & Resorts. Later Shepherd Construction won the contract and converted the hotel into a part of Marriott Edition brand. All renovation works estimated US$52 million (£33 million). Initially the hotel was scheduled for opening in 2013.
Marriott’s Edition has been a troubled brand right from the start. Two initial properties were hotels in Istanbul and Honolulu. However, later Marriott had problems with the Honolulu property’s owner and had to rebrand the hotel. It seemed that the development of the brand was also over. However, later Marriott announced that the company would invest US$800 million into development of this brand. This is a rather surprising decision for Marriott that specializes on managing hotels. Developed together with the famous hotelier Ian Schrager, Edition is a lifestyle brand targeted at modern travellers.
