Choice Hotels International got the award as “The Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality”. The company got 100% score in following policies and practices that are friendly to LGBT (lesbian gay bisexual transgender) community.
For the hotelier this is one more way of advertising its services and, as the company’s CEO mentions, to attract high quality staff. It was Choice Hotels’ decision to participate in the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which is issued for the tenth time this year. Choice Hotels participated in this index for three years, but only in 2011 it managed to gain 100% score. The CEI requirements are very strict, so only 190 companies all over the world have managed to get the 100% score.
Today corporations, especially American ones, try to create as friendly working environment for its LGBT employees, as possible. For example, in order to get this perfect score, Choice Hotels has set up full equal employment benefits, equal opportunity policies, and has shown its organizational LGBT competency.
HRC or Human Rights Campaign is the largest LGBT civil rights organization in America.
Choice Hotels is an international hotelier with over 6100 accommodations in its portfolio. The company has hotels in 30 countries of the world working under such brands as Choice Hotels, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Comfort Inn, etc.
