Retaj Hotels Will Open 20 Properties in the Middle East

News Qatar-headquartered Retaj Hotels & Hospitality has made reports concerning its plans of opening as much as 20 hotels in different parts of the Middle East. All hotels may start operating within next 5 years. The company, which is owned by five Qatari investors, already operates several properties. These are four hotels in Doha – Retaj Residence-Sharq, Retaj Al Reyyan, Retaj Al Ghanem and Retaj Residence. The hotels operated by this company are distinguished by strict following the Islamic principles. No smoking or alcohol is allowed on the territory of all hotels. The company feels the demand for such hotels in the region and wants to spread them to different parts of the country.

The company has evident proofs of its popularity. When Retaj started its business, no one was sure about the outcome, but it turned out to be just fine. Currently the average occupancy of hotels in Doha estimates 63%. The occupancy of Islamic hotels by Retaj is 87%. These hotels are very popular among government bodies. Sportsmen also prefer “dry” hotels. Qatar is often used as the destination for numerous sports competitions. For a coach it’s much safer to choose a hotel where players will not smoke and drink.

Among the newest plans of the company is the building of a luxury hotel just in front of the Islamic Museum (Doha). The hotel, which will be named Retaj Royal, will have 107 guestrooms and may start operating in the end of this year. Other desirable destinations are Kuwait and the UAE. The building of accommodations in these countries will start in 2012. The sphere of interest of the hotelier also covers Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In future Retaj wants to open hotels in other countries with strong Islamic traditions, such as Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey and Malaysia.
