Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts, the German hotelier with headquarters in Frankfurt, has announced it will expand its portfolio by approximately 50%. All new properties will be opened under the InterCityHotel brand.
The company wants to have more than just hotels in Austria and Germany (currently all of 32 properties of the company are located in these countries). The primary targets of the hotelier are Eastern and Central Europe. In order to make this plan come true, the company has established its new expansion plan. Steigenberger has already concluded the agreement with Vienna-headquartered PORR Solutions Immobilien und Infrastrukturprojekte concerning the development of 15 hotels.
Joachim Marusczyk, the managing director of InterCityHotel, mentions that nowadays countries of Central and Eastern Europe keep developing, so the demand for mid-range and upper mid-range hotels will only grow. Eastern Europe needs more hotels due to the growing number of business travellers. The company sees these markets as major possibilities to reach success.
No exact names and locations are available at the moment. The company’s representatives say they are in the process of searching and negotiations.
