According to information provided by In Extenso, French luxurious segment feels just fine and continues growing in the beginning of this summer despite some negative forecasts.
France proves its name of a popular tourist destination with hotels operating in upscale and luxurious segments topping the chart. In June luxurious accommodations and 4-star hotels featured the growth in RevPAR of 16.7%. The increase of other properties is not so tremendous – 3-star accommodations featured the rise of 7.3%, while the gain of 2-star accommodations is even more modest – just 3.5%.
Occupation stats also prove the domination of the luxury segment. In June the average occupancy of luxury accommodations estimated 82.2%. 3 star hotels in France had the occupancy of 80.3% and 2 star hotels’ occupancy estimated 77.3%. The average rates in June estimated US$397 (€276) for 4-star and 5-star segments, US$152 (€106) for 3-star accommodations and US$97 (€68) for 2-star hotels.
June was beneficial for hotels in Paris due to several large events like the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. This show traditionally attracts many guests, so even 2-star and 3-star hotels in Seine-Saint-Deni had more guests than usually. The decrease in the number of guests was noticed only in hotels in Yvelines operating in budget segments.
Hotels located in other regions of France feature slight increase in the number of guests. The only exception may be hotels in Bordeaux (in June this city hosted Vinexpo) and hotels in Monaco and Cannes.
