Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the American hotelier headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, has announced the signing of the contact with the Indian company JHM. According to this agreement Interstate will operate two hotels in India.
The new properties are a hotel in Jaipur and a hotel in Amritsar. The 63-key Rajasthali Resort & Spa Jaipur is built by the local developer Construction Ltd., while the developer of the 145-key Ramada Amritsar is Stares Developers Pvt. Ltd. The signing of the deal concerning these two hotels will increase the number of the properties managed by Interstate to five.
Thomas Hewitt, the chairman and CEO of Interstate, mentions that the company has managed to create an efficient system of management that is based on the in-country experience and so it fits India and its traditions. This fact has helped to establish a solid platform and run business successfully.
In 2008 JHM and Interstate Hotels have created a joint venture partnership with 50/50 shares. The new company is named JHM Interstate Hotels India Pvt. Ltd and is headquartered in India.
