Anantara Will Open a Hotel in Abu Dhabi Instead of Banyan Tree

Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts is withdrawn from the building of Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa in Abu Dhabi. The new organization picked up by Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development & Investment Co. is Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas. Anantara specializes in managing upscale and luxurious hotels, so this is a good choice for the new hotel in Abu Dhabi that is scheduled to open in the beginning of the next year. Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa will be a part of a mixed use building that will also contain retail shops, resident apartments, and a marina.

This 5-star accommodation will have 224 guestrooms, a bar at the poolside, a lounge on the roof of the building, 3 restaurants, a spa center, and various business facilities.

This is not the first collaboration of Anantara and Tourism Development & Investment Co. as the hotelier already manages 2 properties by this company – Desert Islands Resort & Spa and Qasr Al Sarab. Moreover, in the end of this year Anantara will add two more properties to its portfolio as it will start operating Al Sahel Lodges and Al Yamm hotels in Yas Island.

Banyan Tree has also issued its press release in which the company gives the explanation of the withdrawal. According to it, the company cancelled the management agreement due to challenges with the developer. The original project included the building of an eco-friendly hotel and TDIC changed this aspect.
