IHG has announced the collaboration with Duet India Hotels. The partnership in the form of joint venture concerns the opening of 19 hotels in India. All properties will start operating until 2016.
The share of the IHG investment reaches 24% or approximately US$300 million. All hotels will be opened under the Holiday Inn Express brand, adding as much as 3,300 guestrooms to the portfolio of the famous hotelier in India. This is not the only ongoing project of IHG in the country as until 2016 will also start working other 46 hotels. All properties in pipeline increase the total number of guestrooms to 10,000.
Holiday Inn Express hotels are mostly targeted on midscale travellers. As India is a fast developing country, middle class steadily grows and there is constant demand for such properties. Due to system of joint ventures and relations with several large Indian developers IHG has managed to make its Holiday Inn Express brand one of the fastest growing.
The location of all properties is yet not well-known, but most probably these will be major cities of India. IHG plans to open hotels in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and some secondary cities.
The famous hotelier plans to open as much as 150 hotels in India until 2020. The properties will be opened under such brands as InterContinental, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza.
