Singapore-based KOP Properties wants to launch a hotel brand specializing in upscale hotels in London. The company has already purchased a historic building located near the Tower of London. The company plans to turn it into a super luxurious hotel and long-stay residences.
KOP wants to create the chain of hotels together with China-based Reignwood Group. Once the plan is approved by government, both companies want to work over the opening of the first hotel and hope to do this until the end of 2014. The building purchased is the former headquarters of Port of London Authority. The hotel organized in it will have 120 guestrooms and 37 apartments for long-stay.
The building purchased by KOP is located on 10 Trinity Square. For many years it has been the headquarters of Port of London Authority. Prior to this it was the location of Willis Insurance. The most famous fact in the history of this building is the hosting of the United Nations General Assembly inaugural session in 1946.
This property will be the flagship hotel of the new chain of luxurious London accommodations. KOP makes out ambitious plans concerning the opening of multiple hotels across Europe. There are no details about the new brand yet, but KOP officials state the new accommodations will mainly target travellers from Asia.
