Mumbai-based Kamat Hotels India Ltd. has decided to merge its two branches of business – Lotus hotels in Murud and Goa, and the company’s Kamat Restaurants. The hotelier’s board of directors has already approved this decision.
Kamat Hotels is not widely known even in India. The company’s most profitable properties are the 52-key Lotus hotel in Goa and the 48-key Lotus hotel in Murud. All other accommodations in the portfolio of the hotelier are either at the stage of renovation or are non-working. According to the statement made by the company’s executive Vithal Kamat, such step will help to maximize the profits of the company as all promoter-owned units now will bring their interests into Kamat Hotels. It is also reported that the mentioned amalgamation is planned to be performed through the valuation by an independent assessor.
Kamal Hotels is a company with a long 25-year-old history. The hotelier currently owns 5 brands – Gadh Hotels, the 5-star The Orchid, Lotus Resorts, the 5-star Ecotel Hotel, and the 4-star VITS Luxury Business Hotel. At the moment Lotus Resort in Murud is operated by Kamat Holiday Resorts Pvt. Ltd., and Lotus Resort in Goa is operated by Kamats Holiday Resorts (Silvassa) Ltd. Restaurants in both hotels are operated by Kamats Restaurants Pvt. Ltd.
