Hotels in London have started official protests concerning the inflated prices on their rooms during Olympics 2012 that will take place in the capital of England. According to the report published by Telegraph, hoteliers are “furious” and say that their guestrooms are resold at “grossly inflated prices”.
The British Hospitality Association has received complaints from most famous London hoteliers. Among them are Starwood Hotels & Resorts, IHG, Thistle Hotels, Hilton Worldwide and others. The hoteliers object the practice when travel agencies set up the final price. Currently tour operators start offering tour packages for Olympics. Famous companies like Thomas Cook make out full packages that contain tickets for events and guestrooms, and charge premiums that are many times more expensive than the cost of guestrooms provided by hoteliers.
British Hospitality Association will publish its statement concerning this issue in the nearest future.
It’s still more than a year to wait until Olympics 2012, and guestrooms reservations are already a hot topic in the capital of the UK. Organizers of the games are worried about the possible decrease in the number of visitors due to expensive rates. This may also affect UK tourism in general and cause the negative impact on the economy of the kingdom. Earlier Visit Britain agency made a statement asking hotels in London to set up fair prices.
