Hotel in Rome will get incredible profits this May as they raise their rates up above normal. You can reserve a room in a 2-star hotel for 330 Euro per night and a 4-star hotel in Rome near Vatican City will already cost you around 850 Euro per night. What is the reason for such an increase?
On May 1 the ceremony of beatification for John Paul II will be held in Rome. The event will be guided by Pope Benedict XVI and will be held in St Peter’s Square. This ceremony will attract many Catholics from all over the world. Around 2.5 million of people are expected to come to Rome on that day.
As Agence France-Presse tells, ever since the announcement of the beatification the bookings in hotels in Rome have simply exploded. Moreover, the date of the beatification, the 1st of May, is a holiday in Europe and late spring is a traditional peak of season in Italy. These factors even worsen the situation with bookings and, thus, hotel rates.
Currently there are approximately 500 hotels in Rome that offer around 150,000 beds.
