Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has announced the change of the managing organization for its Sheraton hotel in Phuket. Starting from June 30 Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket will be rebranded to Angsana Laguna Phuket.
The brand Angsana is owned by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts. The company has decided not to prolong the contract with Starwood and its Sheraton Luxury Collection. The hotel will be closed for a limited period of time for renovation purposes. The owner will spend around $30 million for redesign of public spaces and guestrooms. Angsana Laguna Phuket is expected to open its doors on December 1.
Laguna Phuket is known as the first integrated resort in Asia. After the opening the hotel will become the biggest property under the Angsana brand. Currently Banyan Tree manages 3 hotels in Thailand under this brand name.
As Arthur Kiong, the managing director of Banyan Tree in Asia Pacific, states, the new Angsana hotel in Laguna Phuket will become the flagship property in the region. The company has ambitious plans concerning this brand and plans to open 15 more hotels in the nearest future.
