Hong Kong-based hotelier Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts plans to build 2 new properties. These are a hotel in Chennai, India, and a hotel in Nanchang, China.
Shangri-La hotel in Nanchang (800 km from Shanghai) will be the sole property of this brand and is scheduled for opening in 2013. For the accommodation in India the company has made an agreement with the local Riverside Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., where Shangri-La will operate Traders hotel in Chennai, which will open in 2011.
The 246-key property in Chennai will be a part of the MARG Junction Mall that will be a mix of boutiques, restaurants, all-day Spa center and much more. The hotel will have its own business meeting space of 2,236 sq. m, a health club, a beauty salon and an outdoor 25-m long pool.
The hotel in Nanchang will be also the upscale 319-key property located in a multi-complex in the Honggutan district that is currently developing in a quick pace. The complex, which is close to the city’s administration and the new convention center, will be built in 2 phases. Shangri-La Nanchang will provide its visitors with dining and entertainment activities as well. On the territory of the hotel will be an all-day restaurant, a lobby lounge, a specialty restaurant, a huge 1,800 sq. ft. ballroom, 25-m indoor swimming pool, a beauty salon and a health club.
