3 new Sheraton hotels in China will be opened by Starwood by the end of January 2011

Sheraton Hotels& Resorts continues its expansion on the Chinese market by opening 3 more properties by the end of January. Among them will be the third hotel in Shanghai and the first hotel in Wenzhou – one of the most developed centers of Zheijang province.

Sheraton hotel in Wenzhou is scheduled for opening on the 28th of December. The next property will greet its first guests on December 31 (Sheraton hotel in Jiangyin). Finally, the last hotel in Shanghai, Sheraton Shanghai Hongkou Hotel, will be opened on January 15. By opening these accommodations Starwood will increase the number of hotels in China up to 35. Another 29 hotels are yet in the process of building.

Sheraton is the iconic brand of Starwood. Now China becomes the second biggest market for this hotelier after the US. Currently more than a half of all new Starwood’s hotels open in this dynamically developing country. The company started by opening hotels in Beijing and Shanghai, and then paid attention to other emerging urban centers of China. Today there’s still a lack of hotels in the country as in China there are 171 cities with a population exceeding 1 million of people.

Sheraton hotel in Wenzhou is the 303-key upscale property just 30 minutes away from Wenzhou Yongqiang Airport. The hotel is located in a walking distance to the city’s boutiques. It will also attract business visitors by providing 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Sheraton hotel in Jiangyin is located near Huangshanhu Park and is surrounded by rivers and lakes. This 298-key accommodation is near main shopping and business destinations of the city. Finally, the 471-key Sheraton Shanghai Hongkou hotel features magnificent views of the city and 13,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.
