The government of the capital of Italy has decided to build a 30-key hotel in the center of Rome. It will be located in an ancient building on the legendary hill, where, according to the legend, Rome has been founded. Local newspaper Corriere della Sera states the total square of the hotel will reach 3500 sq. meters.
The hotel in Rome will be opened as a part of the “Museo della citta” project. The project is planned for approval in the local government in January 2011. “Museum of the city” will cost the city’s budget approximately 100 million of Euro in 5-6 years according to the information provided by AFP. Corrierre della Sera names another digit – around 160 million of Euro within 7 years. 50-60 million will be taken from the city’s budget and the rest, 100 million of Euro, will be provided by private investors.
The first part of the complex will be ready in 2014, when Rome will celebrate 2000th anniversary from the death of the first Roman Empire’s leader August.
The center of the museum will be located in Via dei Cerchi street that is a home for buildings of the 1st century AD and ruins of the buildings dated III-II century BC.
Rome is known as one of the most popular tourist destinations. Over 38 million of tourists visit this city annually.
