In 2010 over 870 thousands of tourists have visited the island country Mauritius. Comparing to the previous year the growth estimates 5.6%. This trend is forecasted to continue until 2012 with the growth up to 3.3% in 2011.
Earlier the Central Statistics Bureau has made forecasts about 915 thousands of tourists visiting the hotels in Mauritius in 2010. Now this forecast has been increased to 920 thousands. In 2011 approximately 950 thousands of tourists will visit Mauritius. The country’s government plans to increase the volume of the international advertising of this island as a perfect leisure tourism spot, so in 2015 the yearly number of tourists will reach 2 million.
In 2010 travel business of Mauritius will earn approximately 39 billion of rupees (around 390 million of Euro). This means a 9.3% increase comparing to the previous year. 2011 is forecasted to yield 5.1% more revenues.
