Ritz Carlton hotel – the second one in the city and the seventh in China – has opened in Shanghai. Designed by Cesar Pelli, this modern-style hotel features unique R-deco elements. This is highly symbolic, since its rooms and restaurants offer wonderful views on the Shanghai riverfront area that collects one of the world's richest 'collections' of buildings performed in this style.
Its 285 guestrooms occupy the top 18 floors of the South Tower of the International Financial Center. Room size ranges from 50 to 400 square meters. Three floors comprise a club area; every room is connected to a luxurious twenty-four-hour club hall located on the 49th floor.
Guests can enjoy exclusive restaurants and a bar offering a spectacular view of the city's skyline. The 25-square-meter business center features several conference rooms, and a dancing room, which, according to Ritz-Carlton's press release, rates second in Shanghai. Due to large floor-to-ceiling windows, rooms are lighted naturally.
Ritz-Carlton's current portfolio includes 70 properties in 24 countries, including Russia, Italy and Spain, service staff totaling 38,000 employees.
