Cuba and China are embarking upon a $118,000,000 investment project – an upscale hotel in Marina Hemingway, a tourist zone in the western part of Havana.
According to Opciones weekly news edition, China invests 51 per cent of the total value and Cuba – 49 per cent. The hotel will occupy a 7,5 hectare spot and it will offer 650 rooms.
Currently China is the Cuba's second largest commercial partner after Venezuela. Despite the massive recession back in 2008, the turnover between the two countries has reached $1,546,000,000. According to caribbeannewsdigital.com, the countries are working on 13 joint projects, including seven engineering, agricultural, light industry, tourist industry and telecommunication projects unraveling in Cuba.
