Orient Express hotel network has replenished its Italian portfolio by two hotels in Sicily. Both hotels – Grand Hotel Timeo and Villa Sant' Andrea – are located in Taormina seafront resort area and are among the most luxurious ones on this legendary island.
The chain closed the hotels right after purchase in January 2010 for winter renovation to upgrade its main services and enlarge guestrooms.
Perched on Monte Tauro, a 200-meter sea-cliff overlooking the eastern coast and the magnificent Gulf of Naxos, the 72-room Grand Hotel Timeo is believed to be most luxurious hotel in Taormina. Asiatraveltips.com says the hotel is located in a spacious private garden. The hotel is renowned for its 'Literature Terrace' offering breathtaking views of the surroundings, which inspired a lot of literature celebrities, including Oscar Wild, David Herbert Laurence and Tennessee Williams.
The 65-room Villa Sant' Andrea is found close to Grand Hotel Timeo on the coast of the Gulf of Mazzaro, one of Italy's most scenic locations. Built in 1830 by a n English aristocratic family and surrounded by a beautiful park, it is regarded as the most beautiful resort in Sicily and Italy. Most of its rooms feature balconies and terraces that provide beautiful views of the sea. Olivero restaurant serves exceptional seafood cuisines.
