Glasgow is a city located 35 kilometers away from the mouth of the Clyde River on the middle-Scottish lowland on the north-west of the Great Britain. Glasgow is the third largest city in the country. The city makes up Clydeside conurbation together with surrounding villages, towns and suburbs that are located along the Clyde River. Among them are Greenock, Dumbarton, Port-Glasgow and many others. The number people living in this Lanark country with its center in Glasgow reaches 1.8 million of people. The name of this country means “green valley” or “the beloved green place” when translated from Gaelic. According to historians the name appeared already in VI century. In the beginning this was a small fishermen settlement, but during the development of colonial expansion of Great Britain together with Scottish bourgeoisie and industrial revolution Glasgow became one of the largest and most important ports and industrial centers of the country already in the middle of VIII century.

Nowadays Glasgow is a city of contrasts because this place combines the remains of the past industrialization and modern stylistic richness. This city was the second most important city of the British Empire with London occupying the first place. It is also considered one of the most impressive and unforgettable cities full of sights referred to Victorian period. That time was famous for the contrast between poor quarters for working people and amazingly posh emperor mansions.

In the end of XIX century Glasgow was proclaimed the city of the European culture. For decades this place traditionally raises interest and is very popular among architecture and art connoisseurs, as well as entertainment lovers.
