Sightseeing in Freeport - what to see. Complete travel guide

Freeport is the second-largest city in the Bahamas. This is a vibrant settlement with many busy people that is equally active during the daytime and at night. Despite a big population, Freeport is an ideal destination for active recreation. In Freeport and its surroundings, there are many quality golf courses and tennis courses with modern infrastructure. Even fishermen can enjoy their favorite activity here because there are special fishing centers in the area. It is easy to explain why Freeport has such a well-developed infrastructure – the city was initially planned as a resort.
In the 18th century, pirates were often leaving their ships in this area. Witty merchants were arriving at the coast and trading there in attempts to buy slaves or stolen pirate treasures cheap. When the time of the sea rogues ended and all pirates disappeared, the region faced a period of decline. In 1955, the woodworking industry emerged in the region when Wallace Groves, a Virginian entrepreneur, was granted a plot of land in the region.
To develop the area, local authorities gave Wallace two hundred square kilometers of land. These were mostly swamps and scrublands. Despite the lack of infrastructure, the businessman managed to build a new city called Freeport. The emerging settlement was growing fast, turning into the second most populous city in the Bahamas after the capital of the islands. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
What can Freeport be proud of? At the moment, a restaurant called Le Chicken Snack is a popular place to visit in the city. This dining establishment has turned into a landmark of the resort. In this restaurant, you can try dishes, the likes of which are not present anywhere else in the world. Local chefs cook barbecue chicken in a unique way, so no other chef in the world can copy this dish. Perhaps, local chefs know some secret that other cooking experts are not aware of.
Before planning your vacation in Freeport, it is better to know the months that are the most suitable for this purpose. The resort is undoubtedly ready to greet its guests at any time of the year. Unfortunately, local weather can spoil vacations at certain months. July and September are the warmest and most comfortable months for beach recreation. If you plan to visit Freeport in August, you need to be prepared for daily rains as this month is the start of the rainy season on the islands.
Tiger Beach is the first place that tourists usually visit when they want to relax. The name of this beach is not random. The thing is, it is possible to see tiger sharks not far from the coast. Moreover, tourists can look at this typical inhabitant of local coastal water and hand feed it without any fear. Besides the tiger shark, it is possible to see dolphins in local coastal waters. They often come close to the beach to entertain people. There are also many turtles and even giant but friendly groupers. Do you like diving? In this case, grab the diving gear at the beach and head to explore the underwater world.
In Freeport, tourists can visit one more paradise-like place that is situated roughly twenty kilometers from the city center. This is Paradise Cove. This beach is widely famous for its crispy white sand and a coral reef not far from the coast. Surprisingly, this gorgeous natural landmark has its own name - Deadman’s Ree. This small reef keeps a true treasure – rare black corals.
In Paradise Cove, vacationers can easily find everything they need for beach recreation. If you enjoy exploring the depths of the sea with the aqualung, you will easily find the equipment you need directly at the beach. Don’t hesitate – local underwater fauna is really worth seeing it. If you know how to ride a canoe, you can also rent a boat and test your strength in fighting with the waves.
Are you craving for silence and serenity? In this case, the beautiful and wild Gold Rock is exactly what you need. This beach is covered with snow-white sand. Surrounding by lush tropical flora, the beach is hiding from numerous crowds of tourists and urban noise. At the moment, this is a wild beach that doesn’t have any infrastructure. Keep in mind that there are no cafes and restaurants nearby, but it is hard to find a better place for serene beach recreation together with your family members.
In order to get to this marvelous and sunny resort, you first need to get to the capital of the Bahamas, the city of Nassau. After that, simply take a flight to Freeport. The total length of the flight is two hours. It is also possible to fly to Freeport from Miami, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. Tourists can get to the central resort area from Freeport airport by taxi.

Swimming pool in Nandana Villas

From the series “Most Scary Swiiming Pools”
The surrounding area of this hotel is not overloaded with additional details. There is nothing to distract vacationers from the surrounding natural splendor here. The absence of traditional terraces with sun loungers and umbrellas near the pool helps to create the feeling that you are relaxing on a real beach. However, this does not mean that hotel guests will have to swim in the hot sun. Palm trees planted on its territory perfectly perform the function of umbrellas. … Read further
