The main sight of the city is a landscape park Duisburg Nord that has been formed in the middle of 80s. Here have been located steel works that are now turned into important excursion destinations. One of the blast furnaces has been equipped with observation area, from which anyone can enjoy panoramic looks of the city. There are several gardens, lawns, artificial ponds on the territory of the park. However, the most unusual facility is scuba diving center that has been organized in the former gas reservoir.
River port is the most beautiful quarter of the city. Several modern office centers, entertainment facilities and restaurants are built here. Near the landing pier are always moored beautiful yachts. Here are also organized river excursions and cruises. Three-bay pediment house is the oldest building of the city. It was built in the 16th century. For a long time this house has been owned by the local municipality and then it was given to young painters, modelers and designers. Today the house is the home to several art galleries and ateliers. Numerous exhibitions and other culture events often take place there. The building of the old port granary is today used to keep the exposition of Museum of History. Art connoisseurs should visit the Museum of Wilhelm Lehmbruck that exhibits 50 works of this internationally famous painter.
