Dresden has always attracted travelers by its colorful festivals and holidays. In early June here takes place an annual music festival Dresdner Musikfestspiele. This event traditionally attracts music lovers from around the world. During several days beautiful parks, theaters, palaces, and even churches of the city are turned into colorful concert venues. World-renowned music bands, as well as local Dresden music bands and orchestras participate in this festival.

Elbhangfest holiday is no less interesting. It is celebrated annually on the last weekend of June. On the day of the holiday numerous funny activities take place in Dresden. Here you will see theatrical premieres, music concerts, dance performances and art exhibitions. Many call Elbhangfest the festival of art, and for some people this is just one more reason to have fun. It should be noted that the entrance to many cultural events is absolutely free on the day of the festival, so tourists have a great opportunity to attend interesting exhibitions and performances whole day long. Fair trades remain among the main events of the holiday. They are organized in all major squares of the city. Attendants can purchase interesting souvenirs, as well as sweets and pastries, which aroma is impossible to resist. Connoisseurs of modern art and art-lovers will surely find much interesting in visiting auctions, where they will be able to buy paintings by young artists.

The middle of May is the time of another important festival - Festival of Dixieland (Internationales Dixielandfestival). Prager Straße is the main venue for the celebration. Here are organized special open air concert venues, on which perform well-known jazz bands. Concerts also take place on ships, and so anyone here can go to a fascinating cruise. As a rule, Jazz Festival ends by a grand parade of vintage cars. This parade traditionally attracts a huge number of spectators.
