Culture of Christchurch. Places to visit - old town, temples, theaters, museums and palaces

ChristChurch Cathedral is the main historical symbol of Christchurch. It’s a magnificent cathedral that dates back to the second half of the 19th century. The renowned Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford, the UK, was the prototype of this religious landmark. During its long history, ChristChurch Cathedral had to endure many troubles, including several earthquakes. In 2011, as a result of three powerful earthquakes, some elements of the façade were destroyed. However, the design of interiors didn’t suffer any damage and still looks nearly flawless. It’s the place where visitors have an opportunity to see premium marble décor, many unusual ornaments, and interesting sculptures dedicated to outstanding city personalities.
