Tiny houses with tiled roofs and carved balconies, old churches and cathedrals can be seen everywhere in the city. There is also a beautiful fort located on a high cliff. The construction of the building took place in the 17th century. Recently the historic building has been completely renovated, and the beautiful fortress has been converted into a luxury hotel.
The Aristocracy Castle is an important historical object. Several centuries ago the castle belonged to a noble family, and today it is home to the Museum dos Biscainhos. The collection of archaeological artifacts present here covers the period of the Roman Empire. Absolutely everyone will be glad to see these truly priceless archaeological finds. The castle is surrounded by a large park zone. The territory of the old reserve is also home to many interesting monuments, buildings and beautiful fountains.
The Church of the Assumption is, without a doubt, the most striking religious monument in the city. The church is located right in the center of Cascais. The construction of the beautiful church was completed in the 18th century. Visiting it will be interesting not only for fans of architectural sights, but also for people who care about painting. Nowadays the church exhibits a collection of works by Josepha de Obidos - a famous painter who was born and spent his life in Cascais. Copyright www.orangesmile.com

Cascais, Portugal The center of the city is the beginning of several picturesque streets, each of which is also full of interesting sights. Among other attractive tourist destinations is the Museu Condes de Castro where the Renaissance setting is recreated. The richly decorated interior including a huge collection of books, household items belonging to that era, beautiful sculptures and paintings - all this can be found inside the museum building. Outside, visitors are attracted by a magnificent garden with freely walking animals (peacocks, pheasants, roosters, turtles), a picturesque pond inhabited by ducks and swans, and the enchanting aroma of fresh plants.
Paula Rego Casa das Historias Casa das Histórias Paula Rego is outstanding from an architectural point of view. The building designed by the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura was completed in 2000. Connoisseurs of fine arts will love it here too - inside they will find paintings by the Portuguese artist Paula Rego. It is worth noting that the project of the building was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the artist herself - thus, it must have been “fun, lively and a bit naughty”. It turned out to be realized, and today tourists can see such a magnificent building, an excellent example of modern architecture. However, art lovers will be happy to check one more place - Centro Cultural de Cascais where interesting temporary exhibitions are held every day.

Farol da Guia, a magnificent architectural and historical monument dating back to 1761, is another significant landmark of the city. Rising 58 meters above the waterfront, the lighthouse serves as an orienting point for tourists who know exactly what place they would like to explore next. It was decided to build the lighthouse after an earthquake that occurred in Lisbon in 1755 and almost completely destroyed a chapel on its site that once illuminated the way for sailors. Then the Marquis of Pombal insisted on building six lighthouses, one of which was Farol da Guia.
Cascais The unchanged symbol of Cascais is Palacio Seixas erected on the site of a fortress that once existed here to protect the city from enemy attacks (by the way, the remains of the fortress wall can still be seen here). Today, it is an amazing monument towering over the ocean like the Sea King's citadel. The building looks particularly interesting at night when it is artistically illuminated. Very beautiful parts are its courtyard with a piece of wild nature and interior - It's definitely worth getting inside to admire it. The construction of the palace started at the beginning of the 20th century.
