Moving around in Italy - transportation
Italy is one of the most economically developed countries in the world. Accordingly, the transport infrastructure in the country is at a very high level. Due to the fact that most of the territory of Italy is surrounded by sea, transportation by water is well developed. It is worth noting that historically, Italian channels were the most powerful among all maritime powers. Today, the influence of this type of transportation and turnover has a huge impact on the country’s economy. Regular ferry connections link not only the coastal territories of Italy, but also the country with neighboring autonomous territories, including the Canary Islands.
Economy roadmap of Italy
Italy’s main problem is fuel and energy dependence. The speed of development of the country is one of the largest in the whole European Union, yet Italy cannot provide itself with a source of energy. Last year, more than 80% of all consumed energy was imported. 99% of all used natural gas and 85% of oil are imported. It is worth noting that earlier the sources of nuclear energy has been developing in the country, but after joining the euro zone all stations of this type were closed. This state of affairs gave the government a powerful push to finance and support developments devoted to alternative energy sources. To date, active development in this field of activity is being carried out; wind and solar power storage stations are being constructed, likewise water energy is being used. The main exported goods are vehicles, various products of the chemical industry, ships and boats, food products, electronic devices, medicines, and other consumer goods. The main export partners are France, Portugal, Italy and England.
