You should start observation of the city from a walk on Via Roma embankment that is stretched until the town’s port. Walk in spacious valleys of the city and you will reach the old part of the town named Castillo. The central part of the region is occupied by an old castle surrounded by bastions. This building is the reminder of the times when this town was ruled by the Spanish. The terrace of Umberto I features an observation area, from which you can see wonderful panoramic views of Cagliari.
The historical part of the town is simply soaked in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Here is located Cathedral built in the 13th century. This is a magnificent building the halls of which are decorated by gilding and mosaics. Near the church you can find several cozy restaurants and souvenir outlets. National Museum of Archeology provides a large collection of items that throw the light upon the heritage of the ancient culture of this region. One of the museum’s halls exhibits a large collection of religious paintings. Amphitheater is also a famous touristic sight of Cagliari. It was built in the 2nd century and even nowadays various performances and events are conducted in it. Tourists who like nature and exotics should take a walk to a nature reserve named Regional Park of Molentargius. Here you will see numerous exotic birds, among which are rare pink flamingo. The Botanic Garden features a large collection of Mediterranean flora. Calamosca coast is a wonderful way to enjoy beach rest. Here you will find not only a spacious beach, but also large selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. Here you can also make a ride on a yacht or a cutter.
