Undergrounds of Naur is the most famous place in France. It has placed on the territory of the same-named city, in Picardie province. In the northern part of France were built a lot of such underground shelters. They were built by local, people tried to hide from another attack and save their property. Underground Naur is quite big, at once there can be about 3 000 people. Approximately this city was built in the 9th century.

These tunnels were used by locals as an underground shelter for hundreds of years. Sometimes people stayed there for several months with their livestock. The main peculiarity of this underground city is a unique system of chimney. It was constructed in the way that not to uncover the undergrounds location. Thanks to that, locals could warm their houses and cook meals on fire for several months. And all this was covered from strangers’ eyes.

This city was found in the end of the 19th century. The researchers have found there a quite complex system of underground streets, squares and galleries. The whole area of the underground tunnels goes up to 2 kilometers. They are located 33 meters under the ground. There were found a lot of interesting buildings, one of them is an old church. Also, the researchers have cleared up that all city buildings were built by human force. Since the Medieval times, the Undergrounds of Naur had been covered with black legends, some people thought that this is an Aceldama.
