Burlington, United Kingdom

From series “Unbelievable Underground Mini-Cities”
In the middle of the 20th century in Great Britain has appeared a secret underground city with a code name Burlington. This city is like a real recessed shelter where the British parliament planed be hold up in case of the nuclear war. The underground city was built at the place of the old stone quarry, its area is about 1 square kilometers. This recessed shelter could save up to 4 000 people at once.

Burlington, United Kingdom During the cold war, such shelters below ground level were built in different countries. Burlington was fully equipped for long and comfortable living. There was placed a special water treatment capability, pub and highway transportation facilities. One of the most unusual thing was an underground lake. This underground shelter was in a work order until 1991. When the cold war has finished, it has lost its original usage.

Only in 2004 all the equipment and provision were removed from the tunnels. Some rooms in the underground shelter still aren’t dissembled. There you can see a huge telephone station with a great number of facilities and covered new chairs. There also saved a part of the railway station and other interesting rooms with various equipment. Until recently, the underground shelter was classified as a secret but several years ago its place was revealed. Today everyone can come to Burlington, the entrance is on the hillslope. The underground shelter has its own elevator that works until now. Next - Undergrounds of Naur

Local residents' love for cocktails is evidenced by holding another festival devoted to them. We are talking about the Wolverhampton Cocktail Festival that falls on the beginning of August. At this time, bartenders have a great opportunity to show all their skills, while visitors can taste their cocktails. Here there are both classic variations (mojito, daiquiri, piña colada), and those bartenders consider their best and want to share with visitors. In addition, at this time you can learn the art of cocktail making from the best bartenders from all over the world.

Wolverhampton hosts one of the most unusual holidays in the United Kingdom - the Festival of The Dead. It is connected with Halloween and is held at the same time as the famous holiday. But here it acquires a somewhat different sound - thus, dance and acrobatic groups of “skeletons” headed by the so-called “Giant Skull” walk around the city, people paint their faces to look like skeletons, and all this is accompanied by music, light show, confetti scattering, and fun. Without exaggeration, this event is in no way inferior to the Brazilian carnival, thanks to which you can get a lot of positive impressions. The parade starts at Starworks Warehouse.
