The white-stone monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. The complex of eight architectural and historical monuments of the two most ancient cities of Russia was united for the sole reason - all of its architectural sites are monuments of white stone architecture. The complex of monuments includes the church of Boris and Gleb, located in the village of Kidesha. It was built in the second half of the 12th century. Nowadays, the main treasures are preserved fragments of pristine frescoes in the church.
Located in Vladimir, the Assumption Cathedral is also a landmark of national importance, its construction began in 1158. In the ancient cathedral, there are also beautiful frescoes by Daniil Black and Andrei Rublev, whose age is more than 600 years. Among other objects of Vladimir, the Golden Gate, as well as Dmitrievsky Cathedral have been included in the complex.
In the village of Bogoliubovo you can see the palace of Andrei Bogolyubsky. Established in the second half of the 12th century, it has been rebuilt many times, and in the 13th century a monastery was founded in the palace. Nearby, is the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, and two unique monuments are located directly on the territory of Suzdal. This is a beautiful Suzdal Kremlin, which is a single complex with the Nativity Cathedral. The Suzdal Kremlin was built in the 1920s and is only slightly inferior in age to the Moscow Kremlin. The Spaso-Efimov monastery closes the eight of the unique monuments of white stone architecture. It was built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries and was perfectly preserved in its original form to the present day.
